The ability to LIVE

Guess what?

I got the job!!! They're still working on the contract, so I'll only see it next week, but they offered me the job- which is the whole point!

Today I was also given a new visa, for almost a year, and was also told that if I find a job- I can change my visa to a working visa- and work as much as I want!!!

This is so great, it's just such a relief! and it just gives me the ability to actually live here, like any other normal person.

So I'll see how it goes with the new job and the German course that starts in 10 days, and after the first course I might change the second one with a less intensive course- and work more. We'll see.

So happy!!!

Oh and I went shopping this week- for some clothes (to wear at work of course) and I spent a nice amount of money on really great basic stuff, and on my dream boots (from this website), which cost me a lot- but they are just perfect!!!

Oh boyfriend, where are thou?

I actually know where he is right now. He wrote me an e-mail (thank you universe for inventing the world wide connection). They're in Pisa (I'm so jealous- never been to Italy) and heading to Sardinia tomorrow... (Have I mentioned how jealous I am?)

Went shopping with my sis today. Bought a new pair of shoes (will be great for European weather) and 2 nice shirts, and my sis bought me a pre-birthday present- a really special shirt... Was a fun day for us in Tel-Aviv, and also- my sister went to an interview in an arts school called Minshar, and she got accepted for cinematography!!! I'm so excited for her. She got excepted to another school too (Camera Obscura) but she chose the other one. My little sister is gonna be a student!!!

Charles called me today!!! From Paris!!! They're landing here on Monday night, and they're gonna call again on Tuesday and we'll make plans!!! I'm so happy about it!!! Now I have to focus up- and stop feeling like the tourist in this country, coz I'm gonna have to take the role of the guide... I still feel a bit like a stranger here- everyone's so loud and blunt, in China they used to stare coz I was different, now men stare coz they're obnoxious. People tend to talk on their cell phones everywhere, and ask very personal questions even if they're just the person fixing your cell phone. Hmmm... how was I ever used to this??? Well now I have to like it, or at least have excuses for it- if I ever wanna show the nice things of this country to other ppl. And there are plenty of nice things here. Plenty.

Chinese Conversation Club

I was suppose to go there alone last night, while Rob goes to play ping pong close to home. But Rob was late from work coz of all kinds of transportation issues, and in the end he offered to come to Chinese Conversation Club ( = CCC) with me. We took the subway to go there and we were looking for the place for a little while. After realizing that the little room with big glass walls inside one of the front yards is the actual place - we went in. Each of us got a Chinese person to talk to, all students, some students for teaching Chinese as a foreign language. It was so great! First of all, this way you progress in your own pace of speaking and understanding - coz it's a 1 on 1 conversation. They have special forms to fill in while talking - in which you or the Chinese partner can write down the words you didn't know while talking (It's a table with 3 columns: Pinyin, Characters and Translation). I had such a nice conversation with the Chinese guy, things I never thought I'd ever talk about with any Chinese person. Things like fate, and God and peace and war, believes and wishes, hopes and hobbies. It was very nice, and I'm definitely going back there. The shame is that it's only on Thursday nights and Sunday after noons, I wish they had this every day...

Went shoe shopping today. Came home empty handed... Found nothing that I really liked, and in the streets I went to today there used to be a big fake market, and since they closed it down it's almost impossible to walk there without being harassed by a person trying to sell you a watch or a bag or god knows what. It sounds a bit like this: "Lady! Lady! Watch(a) Bag(a)!!! Look(a) Look(a)!!!" Chinese ppl have a hard time finishing a word without a vowel- coz of what they're used to in Chinese, so they add an "a" to most of the words... So they follow you everywhere, some touch until I have to yell at them to stop touching me, some just block the way on the street, which makes you walk in zigzags all the way and run away into stores all the time. So, I decided to go shoe shopping again some other day in a different place...

Roger Waters in Shanghai and then some

Wow... We were at the Roger Waters concert last night. What a show!
Here's a short review about it from the Shanghaiist website. This review kinda sums up what I think about the show. It was definitely great to hear these songs on stage, and the production was really good- the sound and the effects both. It was refreshing to see such a political (and not censured!!!) show here in China, and was both moving and surprising to see the Israeli - Palestinian wall there on screen...

It took 3 hours, including an intermission, and it was worth every penny I spent on it.



It took me years back to the time I used to listen to Pink Floyd 24/7... and it gave me the shivers... When I'll figure out how to put a short movie here- I'll do so...

This morning I went to pick up my passport- and I got the visa!!! I'm allowed to stay here until May 15th now!!! Hurray!!! Then I went shopping, and bought lots of stuff for our skiing trip on Thursday - I hope that now, with all that I bought- I wont be too cold.... I feel like I spend a lot of money on shopping, but I keep reminding myself that here it's really cheap and at home, and in Europe I wont be able to find a nice woolen long coat for 18€...
